Named after the red lantern hung on the last car of a train, the "Lanterne Rouge" is the unofficial title given to the rider who finishes dead last in the race. Originating from the Tour de France, the Lanterne Rouge is the rider who hangs on and fights through every climb, every setback, and every impossible mile simply to reach the finish.
